🥕🚜 BOONAH IS GOING BIG… REALLY BIG! 🚜🥕

We are thrilled to officially announce an exciting new community project that we hope will become Boonah’s next BIG tourism drawcard…

🥕 THE WORLD’S BIGGEST CARROT! 🥕

Today I joined Rob Worley, Coordinator of the Boonah Visitor Information Centre, to share our vision for something truly unique!

Our giant carrot will be created using recycled tractor parts and old farming machinery from properties right across the Scenic Rim!

This project is an ode to our region’s rich agricultural history, the hardworking farming families who have shaped our community, and of course, the humble carrot! 🥕 A vegetable so spectacularly bright, beautiful and proudly connected to our farming landscape.

But this project is about so much more than building a giant carrot.

❤️ It’s about keeping the doors of our beloved Boonah Visitor Information Centre open, creating a new reason for tourists to visit our beautiful town, supporting local businesses and bringing our community together.

🚜 WE NEED YOUR OLD TRACTOR PARTS! 🚜

Have you got old tractor parts, rusty machinery pieces, gears, wheels or other interesting farming bits and pieces lying around your property?

We would LOVE to give them a new lease on life as part of this incredible community sculpture!

🥕 Small pieces can be dropped directly into the Boonah Visitor Information Centre.

🥕 For larger pieces, please email [email protected] so we can discuss arrangements.

And because we want this to be a true community project, we will be creating a special recognition sign featuring the names of the families who generously donate pieces to help bring our giant carrot to life.

Imagine being able to visit the sculpture in years to come and proudly say, “Our family helped build that!” ❤️

SO HOW WILL WE MAKE IT HAPPEN?

We have submitted an application for funding through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and will also be organising community fundraising activities to help bring this ambitious project to life.

And who knows where this little carrot seed might grow…

🥕🎶 A BOONAH CARROT FESTIVAL, PERHAPS?! 🎶🥕

A celebration of our farmers, our produce, our history, our businesses and everything that makes our beautiful region so special!

We have big dreams for Boonah, and we believe that with a little creativity, a whole lot of community spirit and a few rusty tractor parts, we can create something truly extraordinary.

Let’s turn our farming history into a landmark for future generations! 🥕❤️

Please share this post, spread the word and start searching those old farm sheds!

Well, this was certainly some unexpected and very humbling news! ❤️

I’m incredibly honoured to have been named a Top 5 Finalist in Queensland for the UQ Skills Regional Community Impact Award, as part of the 2026 7NEWS Queensland Community Achievement Awards.

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to Cathy Williams and Jon Krause MP for taking the time to nominate me. It means more than you know, and I’m genuinely touched that you felt my contribution to our community was worthy of such recognition.

But more than anything, I want to say thank you to our amazing community.

I have never felt more welcomed, more connected or more at home anywhere than I do here in Boonah. This little town and the wonderful people who make it what it is have given me something truly special — a sense of belonging and a place I can wholeheartedly call home.

I genuinely love our community, and being able to volunteer, contribute and play even a small part in making it a better place is an absolute privilege.

And the beautiful thing about volunteering is that you often receive far more than you give. The friendships (forever friends!), the connections, the kindness and the sense of purpose this community has given me are worth more than any award.

So while my name might be on this nomination, I really do feel this recognition is a reflection of the incredible community I’m so fortunate to be part of.

Thank you, Boonah, for welcoming me, for embracing my sometimes crazy ideas and for giving me a place that truly feels like home. ❤️

I’m very proud to call this wonderful little corner of Queensland my forever home. xx

The Brisbane Billboard is up for the very first “Visit Boonah” campaign.

Businesses were photographed by local Photographer Hannah Photography to showcase the happy smiling faces of Boonah and surrounds businesses. A huge task and Hannah smashed it out of the park! 👏

21,000 people each day will be seeing this sign for 3 months.

Thank you to everyone for being so enthusiastic with wanting to be involved.

A great result from our committee.
Now onto the next project ✅

President Report 2026

I’ve been reflecting on all we’ve achieved together, and how proud I am to be heading into my fourth year as President. Serving in this role has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences I’ve had. It’s given me a sense of purpose and connection to the community I’ve chosen as my forever home. 2026 has been a big year. We’re seeing ideas turn into action and real positive change starting to take shape. None of that happens because of one person. To our committee and to everyone who’s backed a fundraiser, turned up to an event, shared a post, offered an idea, or simply said “Keep going!” Thank you. Your encouragement keeps us moving.

And, in the spirit of big ideas, we’ve got a rather ambitious project coming up: a giant carrot welded from recycled vintage tractor parts by a local welder. But not just any giant carrot. We’re talking the world’s biggest carrot. It’s a fun way to celebrate our farming heritage and the growers who make this region what it is.

There’s so much more to share soon and we can’t wait to take you along for the journey. I also want to give a very special thanks.

To our secretary Deb, thank you hardly covers it. You support me and this chamber above and beyond, and I’m deeply grateful for your friendship, your wisdom and your steady hand. To our long-standing Treasurer John Stone, we are so fortunate for your years of dedicated service. Your reliability and knowledge are invaluable.
John Brent - You’ve become more than a friend - but a true mentor and calm in any storm.

And to Rob, as you step away from the committee, thank you for everything you’ve given. We’re so happy for your success and grateful that this isn’t really goodbye. Just a see you later mateeee 😅 Thank you, Rob, for everything.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. I’m incredibly proud to serve as your president, proud of what we’re building together, and very excited about what’s ahead.

Thank you, Boonah and district.
I adore this community.
