We are so pleased to promote this initiative. Get behind it Ballarat and give community performing arts the support they so desperately deserve

🎭 At the upcoming City of Ballarat Council meeting on 23 July 2025, I am putting forward a motion calling for a report to strengthen support for local community arts, theatre, and performance groups in Ballarat! 🎶

🫶 Local arts groups are the lifeblood of our city’s cultural identity - fostering creativity, connection, and community pride. From the historic Her Majesty's Theatre Ballarat to the incredible work of Ballarat Lyric Theatre Inc., BLOC Music Theatre, Ballarat Performing Arts Community, the Royal South Street Society and many more, our city has a long, proud and vibrant local arts legacy.

💪 But to keep this local legacy alive and thriving, we need to ensure our local creatives have the support they need.

📌 My motion calls for a comprehensive report exploring:

• A strategy to support local community arts groups
• Mechanisms for support - such as funding models, venue access, and partnership opportunities
• Mapping of current infrastructure and identifying gaps
• Options for new or upgraded creative spaces
• Ways to boost community participation in the arts
• The potential for an Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee

This is about building a Creative City Ballarat where everyone has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the arts.

🗓️ If the motion is supported by a majority of Councillors, the final report will be presented to Council by 26 November 2025, following engagement with local arts organisations and community groups.

We’ve been nominated as a Bendigo Community Bank 2025 SparkTank finalist!

We’ll be pitching at SparkTank 2025 on Monday 4 August 6.00 pm to secure funds to have a high-quality toilet and shower block installed at our Neill Street site. This will improve comfort and accessibility for those who work, rehearse and visit BPAC.
