For the second Joker of the Secrets Session Royal Collector’s Edition Playing Cards, we chose none other than:
Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser —
the father of modern card magic.
In his hands rests one of his most poetic and legendary creations:
“The Rose Mirror.”
Within a classical European mirror, two roses slowly begin to appear, while Hofzinser softly recites his iconic verses:
“A red rose represents life.
A white rose represents death.”
Then—
the white rose slowly transforms into red,
before both roses gradually lose their colors once again, returning to pure white.
And finally—
the illusion transcends the mirror itself,
as two real roses appear in reality.
This is more than simply a magic effect.
It represents the very spirit of Secrets Session:
Mystery.
Elegance.
Poetry.
And the heritage of classical European magic culture.
The entire Joker design was inspired by Vienna’s imperial art and vintage European aesthetics, created to revive the magical atmosphere of Europe’s golden age of mystery.
