Tyra Fenton competed in the final at 15 years old, while the other finalists were generally 17–19 years old. In fact, World Athletics' Olympic coverage highlighted her as "the youngest athlete in the semi-finals at an astonishing 15 years old," and she subsequently advanced to the final.
That makes her accomplishment even more impressive:
* Age: 15
* Youngest athlete in the Women's 200m final
* Reached the World U20 Championship final
* Competed against athletes up to four years older, many of whom are in the upper end of the U20 age category.
For context, in sprinting, a 15-year-old reaching a World U20 final is exceptionally rare. Most finalists are 18 or 19 and have had several additional years of physical development and international competition.
Congratulations Tyra!!!!!!!!!!
