Anwar Maqsood Hameedi – born in 1935 in Hyderabad state – is a Pakistani scriptwriter, television host, satirist, humourist, and infrequent actor. He is well known for his write ups for Pakistan Television Corporation in late 1970s.
He belongs to a prominent family of Pakistan which includes his sister Fatima Surayya Bajia - a known writer in Pakistan and South East Asia. His another sister - Zohra Nigah – is also a known poet. His brother - Ahmed Maqsood – is the former Chief Secretary of Sindh, and his another sister - Zubaida Tariq - is a cooking expert and chef.
His wife – Imrana Maqsood - is a known novelist, and son - Bilal Maqsood – is the lead guitarist of the pop/rock band Strings.
He is famous for a number of TV shows that include Studio Dhai, Studio Ponayteen, Fifty Fifty, Aangan Terha, Half Plate, Loose Talk, and Colony 52.
He is also the recipient of Hilal-e-Imtiaz – the second highest civilian award in Pakistan – for his outstanding work in literature.
He has received numerous awards – including Lifetime Achievement Awards – via various private platforms and channels in Pakistan.
