A Meaningful Evening at Oud Metha

Little Feet Learning Hub is happy to be part of today’s community gathering at the Pakistani Auditorium, Oud Metha.

Community events like this create opportunities for families to come together, connect, discover something new and give children positive experiences beyond the classroom.

At Little Feet, we believe that learning can happen through play, creativity, sensory experiences and meaningful engagement. Today, we are sharing our sensory and arts and crafts activities, Little Scents collection, and personalised little gift options.

More than anything, we are here to connect with families, listen, share ideas and promote greater awareness of the importance of supporting every child’s individual learning and developmental journey.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by and supported Little Feet today. We look forward to meeting more families and continuing to take part in positive and inclusive community experiences.

Parent Tips: Teach the Behavior You Want to See

Children need more than being told what not to do.
They need to understand what they can do instead.

When a child is hitting, shouting, grabbing, refusing, or interrupting, simply saying:
“Don't hit.”
“Stop shouting.”
“Don't grab.”
“Behave.”
may stop the behavior temporarily, but it does not necessarily teach the child an appropriate replacement.
Try teaching the alternative.
Instead of only saying “Don't hit,”
teach: “Use gentle hands.”
Instead of “Don't shout,”
teach: “Use a calm voice.”
Instead of “Don't grab,”
teach: “Ask for a turn.”
Instead of “Stop interrupting,”
teach: “Wait until I'm finished, then you can talk.”
Instead of “Don't throw,”
teach: “If you're finished, put it here.”

How parents can help
• Tell your child clearly what you want them to do.
• Demonstrate the behavior when possible.
• Practise the replacement behavior when your child is calm.
• Use simple and consistent words.
• Give your child time to respond.
• Notice and praise the behavior you want to see.
• Repeat and reinforce it across everyday situations.

Little Reminder
Children learn behavior through practice, modelling, and positive guidance — not just correction.

At Little Feet Learning Hub, we believe behavior support should help children develop communication, regulation, independence, and appropriate ways to participate.

BACK TO SCHOOL: Stronger Skills, Brighter Future

As the new school year approaches, school readiness is about more than knowing ABCs and 123s.

Children also need opportunities to practise the everyday skills that help them feel confident, participate, communicate, and become more independent.

At home, you can begin preparing your child through simple routines and playful practice:
• Toileting and self-care independence
• Following simple instructions
• Attention and sitting skills
• Communication and asking for help
• Emotional and behavior regulation
• Dressing, eating, packing, and managing belongings
• Taking turns, sharing, and respecting others
• Preparing for transitions and new routines
The goal is not perfection before school begins.
The goal is to help children take small, meaningful steps toward independence and confidence.

At Little Feet Learning Hub, we believe every child learns at their own pace. Through individualized, play-based learning support, we help children develop skills that support participation, communication, regulation, learning, and everyday independence.

Our support includes:
• School Readiness
• Learning Support & Inclusion
• Sensory Engagement
• Phonics & Early Literacy
• Fine Motor Development
• Parent Collaboration

Follow our pages for more Back-to-School Tips, parent resources, learning activities, and updates about our upcoming activities and community events.

Every step. Every smile. Every child matters.

Helping Children Regulate Before We Correct
When a child is overwhelmed, they may not yet be ready to listen, learn, or respond appropriately.
Before we correct the behavior, we can first help the child feel safe, calm, and regulated.
Simple ways parents can support regulation:
• Stay calm and use a steady voice.
• Reduce unnecessary demands when the child is overwhelmed.
• Give the child a moment to settle and reset.
• Use simple, clear language.
• Offer appropriate choices when possible.
• Once the child is calm, teach the expected behavior.
• Praise the child when they use an appropriate way to communicate or regulate.
Our goal is not simply to stop challenging behavior. We want to teach children what they can do instead.
Regulation comes before learning. Connection creates the foundation for guidance. With consistent support, children can gradually develop self-control, communication, confidence, and more appropriate ways of responding.
Parent reminder: A child who is struggling is not always choosing to be difficult. Sometimes, they are showing us that they need help regulating.
